Different types of measurement

There are 3 different ways to measure with calipers.

1.CloseMeasuring the jawsexternal dimension of a part.

EX: Measuring the calipersside shut.lengths of a cube.

2.UnscrewMeasuring the dialinternal mechanismdimension of a part.

EX: Measuring the slot width or diameter of a circle in a part to confirm tolerances.

 

3.RotateMeasuring the dialdepth untilof a part.

EX: Measuring to the "0"bottom isof matcheda withthreaded hole to pick out the needleright sized bolt.

4.Open the jaws and clamp on the part you wish to measure.

5.Tighten the set screw.

6.Read it!
