2019-2020 Impact Submission

In the 2019–2020 season, YETI Robotics continued advancing its mission to break down cultural, economic, and gender barriers through STEM education. The team dedicated 6,516 hours of service across close to 200 events, inspiring 70,194 people directly and reaching 7,000,000 people through media. YETI strengthened the FIRST community by sustaining a pipeline of 24 feeder teams (6 FTC, 12 FLL, and 6 Jr. FLL), mentoring FRC teams 6894 and 7815, and investing more than $100,000 to support teams with registration, competition food, rent, and event hosting. The team expanded outreach to underserved students locally through tactile and visual computer science instruction for ESL students, STEM summer camps and classes with Project 658, the Bag4Bag hygiene drive for homeless students at Governor’s Village STEM Academy, and partnering with Digi-Bridge to start an FRC team at Title I West Meck High School. Additionally, its regional Girl Scouts partnership introduced 200 girls to EV3 robotics to earn their Robotics badges while expanding its Pink Pipeline. Beyond Charlotte, YETI helped build sustainable STEM programs in rural India through PREPARE, providing over $60,000 in salaries and materials to support 2,810 students across 7 schools. Through partnerships, mentorship, and a commitment to sustainable impact, YETI continued empowering students locally and around the world.
